CNN announced Monday that it has bolstered its roster of broadcast personalities with the hiring of CNBC’s Kayla Taushe as its new White House correspondent.
Taushe, 37, joined CNN Monday after more than a decade at CNBC, covering the Biden administration as a White House correspondent, in addition to a supplemental assignment as an anchor for the cable channel’s show.
The Atlanta native “brings a rich economics, technology and foreign policy background that will enhance CNN’s coverage of economics, technology and foreign policy as President Biden seeks re-election in 2024,” CNN said in a statement.
Taushe advertised his new job on his social media pages on Monday.
“Time to update my Twitter profile. Excited to join @CNN’s amazing White House team,” she tweeted on Monday.
Taushe joins a group of White House correspondents led by senior member Phil Mattingly.
Mattingly has covered the White House with correspondent MJ Lee and is considered a possible co-host of CNN’s morning show, which is anchored by Poppy Harlow.
Harlow has been a rotating anchor on CNN This Morning since former Trump White House correspondent Caitlan Collins moved to the prime time slot and Don Lemon was fired.
CNN has been in a state of flux in recent weeks, especially following the departure of CEO Chris Licht.
Licht held the position for just over a year, but was fired after a harrowing profile in The Atlantic revealed him to be paranoid and aloof.
He will be replaced by a trio of executives who will collectively take over Licht’s duties while Chief Executive David Zaslav of CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discover, seeks a permanent replacement.
Licht’s predecessor, Jeff Zucker, was spotted holding hands with CNN Tonight anchor Alisin Kamerota at a Hamptons party over the weekend.
Zucker, 58, left CNN after it was revealed he had a long-term consensual relationship with chief marketing officer Alison Gorast.
