CNN mocked for article accusing Trump campaign of trying to ‘goad’ Harris into doing an interview

On Thursday, a CNN report was ridiculed, claiming that the Trump Vance campaign was “encouraging” Vice President Harris to speak to reporters as a way to “mislead” her.

“In another front in its new offensive against Harris, the Trump campaign has stepped up pressure on the vice president to give interviews to major media outlets, appearing to lure her into forums where she has historically been more vulnerable than delivering a scripted speech,” the article said. said.

“In this light, Trump’s promise to hold a press conference on Thursday appears to be an attempt to draw a contrast with the vice president,” the paper said, adding that there would be risks for Harris to appear unscripted.

Media criticizes Vice President Kamala Harris for choosing Governor Tim Walz as running mate: “What a strange choice”

“Harris has been vague at times in interviews and unscripted moments, particularly early in her vice presidency, and the Trump campaign clearly sees this as a possibility that could slow her strong start,” the Post reported. “But with the Democratic National Convention less than two weeks away, there still seems little incentive for the Harris campaign to take risks, especially since Democrats can, at least for now, argue that VP Harris is frantically setting up a new campaign and scrambling to find a running mate.”

Social media commentators mocked CNN for appearing to stonewall Harris.

Executive producer Maxime Lott, in an apparent sarcastic dig at CNN’s wording, said, “CNN’s headline… The Trump campaign is hatching a new, nefarious plan… to lure Ms. Harris into a trap called a ‘major media interview.'”

Comedian Michael Rapaport said Harris lost the vote to Israel: “I can’t support a party that supports these idiots.”

“If he’s in a ‘historically weak position’ when it comes to giving media interviews, then perhaps he shouldn’t be the one in charge of negotiating with hostile foreign leaders,” suggested Mark Hemingway, a senior reporter at RealClear Investigations.

Tim Graham, editor in chief of NewsBusters, joked, “Can’t CNN interview her while massaging her feet?”

“The media is the PR arm of the administration,” argued Benjamin Weingarten, editor-in-chief of RealClearInvestigations.

“What’s pathetic is that the media hasn’t relentlessly criticized her herself and called her out for her lackluster campaign so far, which is what they used to do,” wrote former Republican Rep. Ryan Costello.

“It is astonishing that national newspapers and White House reporters not only refuse to require a sitting vice presidential candidate or presidential candidate to answer questions, but have engaged in obstructionist behavior that treats any request to answer questions as a partisan conspiracy,” wrote GeorgiaPol.com founder Charlie Harper.

“This woman who aspires to be the leader of the free world is too weak to listen to questioning from a sycophantic American media,” wrote Anthony Sacramone of the Acton Institute. “So who will protect her from China, Russia, Iran and our allies? Who is going to say it’s sexist/racist to ask rude policy questions?”

On Thursday afternoon, after avoiding the media for 18 days, Harris finally answered reporters’ questions. She spoke to reporters for less than two minutes.
