CNN's Harry Enten said in a video posted Wednesday on social platform That's ridiculous.''
“Joe Biden claimed in exit interview with USA Today that he could have beaten Donald Trump if he had stayed in the race.'' Enten said in the video. “That begs the question: could Mr. Biden have won the 2024 election? [stayed] In the race? ”
“To tell you the truth, I would classify his statement as completely ridiculous,” he added.
During a recent interview with USA Today, the newspaper asked the president about the possibility of re-capturing the White House, to which he responded in the affirmative. Biden added that his views were based on polls he had seen, but the president did not provide details about where the data came from.
Last July, Mr. Biden's re-election campaign came to an end after a rough debate performance against Mr. Trump, raising questions about Mr. Biden's age and ability among Democrats to retake the White House.
“The bottom line is this: Joe Biden was late. He was always late and probably would have stayed,” Enten said Wednesday.
To support Biden's reasoning, Enten pointed to Biden's weak poll numbers, Trump's lead in battleground states, and Biden's low approval ratings.
“Look here, look at the road to 270 electoral votes, look at Trump vs. Biden based on the polls when Biden dropped out of the race, look at the Great Lakes battleground states. You know what I’m talking about. “Donald Trump is leading in all three states, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.''
“What about here in the Southeast? Trump is leading again in North Carolina and Georgia,” Enten added. “What about here in the Southwest? Trump is leading again in Nevada and Arizona.”
The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.
