Just weeks before Election Day, CNN polling analyst Harry Enten unearthed further data that suggests the election may be tilting decisively toward former President Donald Trump.
“This is the type of campaign that Donald Trump likes to see in the heart of his district.”
Enten found that independent voters are turning away from Vice President Kamala Harris at a time when Democrats are trying to shore up support.
“What do we know about independent businesses? The heart of the district.” “Last time, Joe Biden won these voters by an 11-point margin,” Enten explained, adding that “in 2024 “If you look at September 2019, one month ago, Kamala Harris was up five points among independents.” But now look, look at this. She is up just two points among the key blocs in the center of the district, and is down nine points from where Biden was at the end of the 2020 campaign. ”
He also said the case against Kamala would worsen if the focus was on battleground states.
“What's going on in the key battleground states, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, the Great Lakes, that blue wall?” Enten continued.
“Joe Biden won by 5 points last time over Donald Trump. Look at where we are today,” he said, adding, “This is Donald Trump winning by 1 point. That's the type of movement you'd like to see in the center of a constituency that's outperformed. Of course, that's within the margin of error, right? But again, it's a movement. It's a trend.”
Mr. Enten then pointed out that in presidential elections since 1952, candidates who gained independent members were elected 15 times, but candidates who lost independent members were elected president only three times. .
While not conclusive, the trend of independents leaning toward Trump is a very bad sign for Democrats.
