CNN pulls plug on Trump spokesperson — just days before network set to host first presidential debate

CNN abruptly pulled Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt from its air Monday morning, just days before the network was scheduled to host the first presidential debate.

Anchor Casey Hunt interrupted Leavitt midway through the interview, taking him off the air after he began talking about fellow CNN host Jake Tapper.

“Ma’am, if you continue to attack my colleagues we will stop here,” Hunt said.
“I want to talk about Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who you work for.”

“Sorry everyone. Caroline, thank you so much for your time. Please come again anytime,” Hunt suddenly announced.

“She’s welcome to come back and talk about Donald Trump, who will be given equal time with Joe Biden when the two take part in the debate in Atlanta later this week.”

Hunt later defended the move, saying, Write on X“Please come on my show and respect my colleagues. That’s it. As my track record clearly shows, it doesn’t matter to me which side you’re on.”

The on-air fracas unfolded ahead of a CNN-hosted debate between President Biden and former President Trump on Thursday.

The 90-minute showdown will be moderated by Tapper and “State of the Union” co-host Dana Bash.

Neither Levitt nor the Trump campaign have yet to publicly comment on his on-air exchange with Hunt.
