Conservative CNN expert Scott Jennings is personally and publicly encouraged to run for the Open Senate seat of Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell in 2026.
Some conservative personalities publicly exposed the possibilities in X. The critic is known for his defense of the Trump administration on the airwaves. He regularly goes viral to discuss liberal experts on cable television networks.
He served as a longtime adviser to the resigning Kentucky Senator, previously working for the George W. Bush administration.
“Can I nominate? [Scott Jennings] For the US Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky? He's going to be hell of McConnell's alternative,” tweeted Pandit Eric Ericsson.
“I will definitely support my friends [Scott Jennings] For us for the Senate. But he also made a great governor for the great state of Kentucky,” tweeted Republican strategist Dustin Gage.
As for McConnell, the former Senate majority leader said last week that he would not seek another term and would leave the doors wide open for candidates in 2026.
“Seven times, my fellow Kentuckians sent me to the Senate,” McConnell, who first took office in 1985, announced his retirement on the Senate floor.
“Every day in the meantime I am humbled by the trust they have placed on me to do their business here. It was a once-in-a-lifetime honor to represent our Federation. I will not be doing this honor for the eighth time. My current term in the Senate will be my last,” he added.
Former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron has already taken part in the race, and Rep. Andy Barr is also pondering his bid. Cameron ran for the governor in 2023, but he lost slightly to Andy Besher, a Democratic government.
In a recent campaign video, Cameron has appointed Secretary of Defense, Director General Tarsi Gabbard, National Intelligence Director and Director General Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
“We should expect Kentucky senators to vote for those candidates to advance their 'America First' agenda,” Cameron said.
Neither Trump nor McConnell have announced their support in the race.
Fox News Digital reached out to Jennings but did not receive a comment.
