CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy announced Thursday that he is leaving CNN to launch a new newsletter.

“Reporting for CNN and serving as steward of the Reliable Sources franchise has been the honor of my life, especially at a time when the truth is under attack and people are searching for accurate, trustworthy information,” Darcy told Mediaite. “Covering the information sector has never been more important, and I’m excited to launch Status, embark on this new journey and exercise my entrepreneurial spirit.”
Darcy worked at CNN for seven years.
During his time at CNN, Darcy repeatedly called for censorship of right-wing groups and public figures, and in a November 30, 2020, CNN newsletter wrote that Twitter should mark then-President Donald Trump’s entire account as false. according to To Fox News.
“Nearly every tweet from the President has been labeled as misinformation at this point, which got me thinking,” Darcy wrote at the time. “Why hasn’t Twitter taken steps to label the President’s entire account as a known source of election misinformation? Why not stop there? Why not label accounts that repeatedly spread claims that the platform must fact-check?”

Darcy also called on cable news companies to remove Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News Network from their platforms for alleged misinformation in a January 28, 2021 interview. analysis.
