Ana Navarro Discusses Civility in Air Travel
Ana Navarro, a co-host on “The View” and known for her critiques of the Trump administration, resonated with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s recent remarks about maintaining civility during travel. She mentioned that Duffy urged travelers to dress appropriately.
“Well, I guess I’ll find common ground with the Trump cabinet—check your pulse, everyone,” Navarro said on air, which caught her co-hosts off guard, prompting one to ask, “Really?”
“I fly quite often, about four times a week, and honestly, it’s exhausting to see so many people in revealing outfits. Miami, in particular, is notorious for this; on nice days, you see folks in leggings that look kind of like second skin. It’s just not the best choice,” she noted.
Duffy, speaking at a press conference, encouraged travelers to dress better, suggesting options like jeans or a nice shirt. He also mentioned that wearing slippers or pajamas at airports isn’t ideal. “We should all strive for a bit more decorum,” he stated.
He added that passengers should lend a hand to others struggling with luggage in overhead compartments, citing it as a simple act of courtesy.
Navarro appreciated Duffy’s emphasis on civility, agreeing that “manners don’t stop at the gate.” She also mentioned that clothing with inappropriate graphics or slogans, like T-shirts featuring nudity or offensive language, should be avoided.
While discussing the topic, co-host Sarah Haynes advocated for “a certain amount of civility.” However, others were not as supportive of Duffy’s message, including Sunny Hostin, who expressed missing Pete Buttigieg in the role of Transportation Secretary.
The Trump administration’s recent push for more civility in air travel aims to combat a significant rise in unruly passenger incidents. Since 2019, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has reported more than a 400% increase in disturbances during flights, which has led to stricter enforcement and penalties in recent years.
