Response to Super Bowl Halftime Show Announcement
A co-host from “The View” recently discussed the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show featuring Bad Bunny, describing the selection as a strategic move. Alyssa Farah Griffin noted, “This is a business decision at the end of the day,” highlighting Bad Bunny’s status as Spotify’s most-streamed artist for several years.
Earlier this month, Bad Bunny shared in an interview that he avoided scheduling a date on his latest tour in the U.S. largely due to concerns over his Latin fans potentially facing issues with Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Another co-host, Anna Navarro, expressed admiration for Bad Bunny, remarking, “He’s an international superstar. While he may not be physically present, he has a significant following across Europe and Latin America.” It’s a testament, perhaps, to how influential he really is.
Navarro also mentioned people returning from what she described as a “waking up” experience in Puerto Rico, adding, “They’re back like they went to church.” This was followed by Sunny Hostin, another co-host, who lauded the NFL’s choice in featuring Bad Bunny.
Hostin commented on Bad Bunny’s role as an activist, stating, “He’s a real artist activist and we haven’t seen it like this for a while.” She also reflected on the past, noting, “He’ll never forget what Donald Trump did—or didn’t do—when Puerto Rico needed assistance.” It’s those kinds of sentiments that make the whole situation feel more relevant and personal.
In a previous interview, Bad Bunny expressed a deep concern about the potential presence of ICE at his concerts, which influenced his decision to not include the U.S. in his tour plans. He candidly shared his apprehension regarding the repercussions of Trump’s deportation policies.
The anticipation surrounding the Super Bowl halftime show is underscored by the recent notable performances from artists like Kendrick Lamar, Usher, and Rihanna, leaving fans eager for what Bad Bunny will bring to the stage this time around.
