U.S. Capitol Police said a small bag of cocaine was found in a “high-traffic” hallway at headquarters.
The agency said in a press release Wednesday that an approximately 1-inch by 1-inch bag filled with a “white powdery substance” was discovered in the center of the floor of the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) building around 1 p.m.Headquarters in Washington DC
USCP announced that a substance test came back positive for cocaine.

The cocaine was found on the second floor of USCP headquarters, in an area used to store furniture and other supplies.
According to USCP, the corridor area is heavily trafficked by various contractors and employees and is also located near the prisoner processing office, crime scene office, Intel office and report processing office.

The officer found the bag “in the middle of the floor” and immediately reported it to a supervisor, USCP said.

The USCP announced that it has begun an investigation and will further test the residue and conduct DNA testing on the bag.
