Rising Interest in New AI Policy Book
A new book by Winton Hall, the social media director at Breitbart News, titled Code Red: Left, Right, China, and the Race to Control AI, has quickly climbed Amazon’s charts since its release on Tuesday, achieving the No. 9 spot on the “Movers & Shakers” list.
In Code Red, Hall outlines a strategy for conservatives to develop effective AI policies. He covers a range of topics, including the role of technology in elections, economic implications, and the importance of faith and family.
One of the key points is the need to move past both a “Doomer” outlook and overly optimistic views about AI. Rather than seeing it as either a catastrophic threat or an ideal solution, he suggests viewing AI as a tool that can be leveraged with caution to support American values.
The book’s popularity surged as readers engaged with its themes, with Hall exposing potential biases in Google’s AI systems against conservative viewpoints. Code Red climbed to the 9th position on Amazon’s “Movers & Shakers” list, which highlights the most popular titles based on recent sales. It saw a sales increase of 128%, ranking 267th in overall sales at one point. This list tends to include a mix of genres, from children’s literature to seasonal books.
Hall’s Code Red is framed as a definitive guide for the MAGA movement in navigating AI’s potential. It emphasizes developing a stance that benefits humanity, preventing an overreach by Silicon Valley or foreign powers, particularly China. Hall particularly notes how AI could influence political dynamics in upcoming elections.
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) praised the book, marking Hall as one of the key figures in the fight against Big Tech. She described him as uniquely qualified to explore the potential of AI while emphasizing caution against exploitation. Michael Shellenberger, a noted journalist, called Code Red both “edifying” and “alarming,” noting its significance as a starting point for discussions about countering Big Tech’s authoritarian tendencies.
