The chief strategy officer of market intelligence platform CoinShares said the narrative centered around Ethereum (ETH) is being hampered amid the rise of alternative layer 1 blockchains.
new interview Meltem Demirors, CSO of CoinShares, said on the Crypto Banter YouTube channel that crypto newcomers are choosing Bitcoin (BTC) over Ethereum (ETH) as an entry point into the digital asset ecosystem because the story is simpler. They say they are still likely to choose.
Demirers says.
“I don’t think ETH will be the first entry point into cryptocurrencies for many new entrants in the next cycle. And I think that will fundamentally change the dynamics. This is my opinion…
I think Ethereum has a very complex scaling roadmap. [and] I think the Ethereum story is struggling…
Bitcoin has a very unique story. [that] Bitcoin is digital gold [or] Bitcoin is money backed by physics, and I think Bitcoin has a very powerful story…
In fact, I think this is a huge positive for Bitcoin and will allow people to hold Bitcoin with confidence, but what I’m a little more concerned about is that Ethereum also has a similar narrative structure. The question is, does it have that strength? ”
De Millers said that while the Ethereum community is strong overall, it lacks the kind of deep-rooted brand loyalty seen in the top crypto assets. She also said she is unsure whether Ethereum can maintain its prominence as Layer 1 (L-1) blockchains, which are faster, cheaper, and have a more intuitive user experience, take hold. Says.
“can [Ethereum] Whether it’s powered by SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) or compatible with Ethereum’s EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine), which allows you to take advantage of much of the Ethereum DApp (Decentralized Application) ecosystem with the new L-1. and maintain market share as more and more L-1s are launched. Higher throughput chain. The question is, can Ethereum maintain its mindshare and market share? That’s the open question for me…
I think the Ethereum community is very strong, but there are no true Ethereum maxis (maximalists). There are a ton of hardcore and harmful Bitcoin maxis, like an army of Bitcoins.
Ethereum doesn’t really have that kind of loyalty. I can’t really name Ethereum’s best features, so I’m not sure if there’s a narrative allegiance to it. ”
At the time of writing, Ethereum is trading at $2,766, with a slight decline over the past 24 hours.
