Weighed in again as backup to Leon Edwards’ successful welterweight title defense against Kamaru Usman at UFC 286 in London on Saturday. To tell He was “Donald Trump’s favorite fighter” and made a frenetic ruckus about all things England.
“It wasn’t a welcoming place,” Covington explained. “Food sucks, weather sucks, girls suck”
This was not the only anti-British comment Covington made to Edwards.
“We buried an Englishman in 1776 and I want him buried. [Edwards] In his home country,” Covington said.
After Edwards defeated Usman by majority vote, UFC president Dana White declared Covington to be the frontrunner for Edwards’ title.
Covington’s trash talk and sassy persona is one of the many ways he’s built his brand to success.

However, Edwards, who hails from Birmingham, England, was not very fond of Covington’s remarks after his victory over Usman.
“I’m the king now. I’ll decide who’s next,” said Edwards.
Edwards initially lost to Usman in 2015, but last August defeated him with a headkick in the fifth round by knockout.
Covington, 35, hasn’t fought since beating Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision last March.
