Coleman Hughes makes Sunny Hostin regret attacking him in brutal smackdown on ‘The View’: ‘That’s an ad hominem tactic’

Writer Coleman Hughes shut down “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin on Wednesday after accusing her of being a conservative “pawn” and a “charlatan.”

While discussing his new book, “The End of Racial Politics: The Case for a Colorblind AmericaHughes said his advocacy for a color-blind society focuses on treating people “regardless of race,” and uses race rather than race as a means to better understand disadvantaged people. He emphasized the importance of using socio-economics.

When Hughes explained his point, the audience erupted in applause. But Hostin disputed that.

Hostin, who recently learned that her ancestors owned slaves, argued that Hughes’ paper is “fundamentally flawed” and that race is embedded in socio-economic disparities. insisted.

But Mr. Hughes disagreed, advocating for what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called a “bill of rights for the underprivileged,” or relief plan. all poor americans.

That’s when the show took a strange turn.

Hostin claimed that MLK did not believe Hughes’ claims. Instead, she said MLK wants reparations for black people, implying that her opinion carries more weight because she knows MLK’s daughter. And if the false appeal to authority wasn’t enough, Hostin attacked Hughes personally.

“Your argument against colorblindness is something that the right has exploited,” Hostin said. “So many people in the black community believe – and to be honest, I wish I did too – that you are some kind of charlatan who is being used as a pawn of the right wing.”

Hughes quickly asked Hostin to support her cause, and co-host Alyssa Farrar Griffin interjected, pointing out that Hughes is not a Republican.

When Hostin could not name anyone who claimed to have made the accusations he had made, Hughes corrected the record.

“I don’t feel like I’ve been co-opted by anyone. I’ve only voted twice. Both times I voted Democrat. I’m an independent, but I vote Republican. “I think there’s no evidence that anyone took advantage of me.” ad hominem “It’s a tactic people use to not address the important conversations we’re having here,” he said.

“There is no evidence that I was deceived by anyone,” Hughes explained. “I have an independent podcast. I work for CNN as an analyst. I write articles for free press. I am independent in all these endeavors, and my No one is paying me to say things like, “I’m saying this because I feel it.” ”

The incident has been resolved.
