College student Alexandra Blattner dies in ski accident in Wisconsin

Tragic Skiing Accident Claims Life of College Student

Earlier this month, a 20-year-old student lost her life in a skiing accident at Rib Mountain, Wisconsin, which marked the second fatal event at the resort in a short span. Alexandra “Allie” Blatner reportedly collided with a tree at Granite Peak Ski Resort on February 5th. She was found with serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene by officials.

Blattner, a resident of Neenah and a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, was remembered in her obituary as having “died painlessly and instantly.” It stated that she was enjoying life when the accident occurred.

The president of the university informed the campus community about her passing the following day. He mentioned that he had developed a close relationship with her shortly after she began her studies last summer. “Aly is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life,” he expressed, noting their bond during his time as a newcomer.

Blattner was pursuing studies in pre-nursing and psychology. She was active in student life, serving on the Student Government Senate and as Vice President of Recruiting for the Tri Sigma Social Club. Her obituary described her as someone who “lit up every room she walked into,” mentioning that she brought joy to those around her.

Others from her community echoed that sentiment. Tori Deptula, the president of Blattner’s sorority chapter, remarked on the positive impact she had on all who knew her, stating that the campus community was lucky to call her a sister.

This incident marked the second such fatality at Granite Peak within less than a month. On January 11, another skier, 30-year-old Matthew Czolkosz, suffered a fatal accident at the same resort when he crashed into a tree. Despite rescuers’ efforts, he did not survive his injuries. Both incidents are currently being treated as accidents by local authorities.

Fox News Digital has reached out to local law enforcement for further details regarding these unfortunate events.
