Tragic Fatal Shooting in Michigan
A university student in Michigan was tragically killed by her ex-boyfriend over the weekend. This incident occurred after the victim had been trying to secure a restraining order due to months of stalking.
Sarah Carroll, aged 20, was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend, who went by the name “Lincoln,” at the Woodland Villa Apartment, situated approximately 25 miles from Detroit. Reportedly, just after the shooting, he called the police to confess and then took his own life.
According to her family, Sarah was attempting to obtain restraining orders against Lincoln, who had been stalking her for several months. Her mother, Jennifer Carroll, shared that Sarah had been with Lincoln for nearly a year, although she hadn’t informed her parents about the stalking situation.
In a heart-wrenching statement, Jennifer urged parents to engage more with their children and foster open communication. “Look at your child to other parents,” she said. “Try to get more into their lives and make them open and talk to you.”
Sarah was pursuing a career as a medical assistant at Craft College and was described as an exceptional student, holding a spot on the dean’s list. Her father, James Carroll, reflected on her bright personality, noting she had a remarkable ability to light up a room. “She was a great person… very intelligent,” he said.
The family is now requesting assistance with funeral expenses, expressing their profound grief at losing Sarah at such a young age. “She’s just beginning her journey, and losing her at such a young age is something that a family has to go through,” they wrote in an online fundraising effort. “We love and miss her more than the words can say.”
As of now, neither Sarah’s family nor the Westland Police Department has commented further on the situation.
