Katherine Morikawa was in tears on Sunday as her husband, Colin Morikawa, secured his first PGA Tour victory in two years at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Video shared on the PGA Tour’s Instagram captured Katherine at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California, visibly emotional as Colin made a birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole, finishing the final round with a score of 5-under 67 and a total of 22-under for the tournament.
“I only got to see two shots on 18, the last two putts, because it was so crowded. Plus, I couldn’t check the PGA Tour app. I really wanted to check :),” she commented on the PGA Tour’s post.
Colin’s win marks his first since the ZOZO Championship back in October 2023.
He managed to outlast competitors like Lee Min-woo, Sepp Straka, Tommy Fleetwood, and Scottie Scheffler, the latter of whom made a notable comeback after an opening round of even-par 72.
“It was a great field with a great leaderboard. I watched it all day,” Morikawa reflected. “Being able to make those last two shots feels really good.”
After finishing the 18th hole, where he was in a three-way tie for first with Lee and Straka, Colin shared a heartfelt hug with Katherine, who is expecting their first child.
“Golf aside, something big is happening in the next few months,” Colin shared afterward. “We only started telling people this week, and I thought if I could win, it would be a nice way to announce it to the world.”
Katherine, who is passionate about running, married 29-year-old Colin in November 2022.
This victory propelled Morikawa from No. 19 to No. 5 in the world rankings, trailing Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Fleetwood, and Justin Rose.
