A Colorado mother is facing child abuse charges after she allegedly drove her SUV recklessly and crashed into a retaining wall, leaving her 4-year-old child precariously in the back seat.
Body camera footage released by the Boulder Police Department shows the moment police officers and firefighters rescue a 4-year-old child after a serious crash.
Authorities said two officers were dispatched to the area of 30th Avenue and Valmont Avenue Tuesday night to investigate a vehicle that had crashed and was hanging “precariously” against a retaining wall.

Body camera footage shows first responders rushing to the SUV and quickly locating the Lexus SUV.
“Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle precariously positioned against a retaining wall with the adult driver still inside,” police said in a statement to the X-Post.

Officers from the Boulder Police Department and Boulder Fire Rescue worked together to stabilize the silver SUV.

Police said first responders stabilized the hood of the SUV and the woman and child were able to safely exit the vehicle.
“Fortunately, both passengers were uninjured. Accidents like this involve (literally) many moving parts, and vehicle extrication is something BFR firefighters routinely practice and use,” the department said. “This is a technology that is very well-developed.”

According to police, authorities are investigating the possibility that the driver suffered a “medical accident.”
