Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert suggests GOP could rename DC ‘District of America’

R-Colo Rep. Lauren Boebert urged House members on Tuesday to stop the “fun” renaming of President Donald Trump's US Gulf, suggesting that Washington, D.C. could face the same fate.

Boebert made his remarks during a legislative hearing on the US Gulf and Bay Act in support of Trump's executive order.

“My colleague on the other side of the aisle warns me not to tease the Gulf of America.

“So, as you know, don't let the jokes go at bay. For now, maybe we're just sticking to the Gulf of America,” she added.

Fox News Digital contacted Boebert's office.

Trump changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico a few days after taking office.

He also renamed Mount Denali in Alaska to Mount McKinley.

Trump often criticizes DC leaders for failing to remove cities of violent crime.

“We're cleaning the city,” Trump said in a speech earlier this month before the Justice Department. “We're cleaning this great capital, we're not going to commit crimes. And we're not going to support crimes. And we're going to defeat the graffiti, and we're going to take them to the tent already there.”

Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered the removal of Black Lives Matter Plaza across the street from the White House after being pressured by Republicans.

The big yellow letters spelling “Black Lives Matter” were first drawn in the summer of 2020 during Trump's first term, following the murder of George Floyd by Breana Taylor by Minneapolis and Louisville police officers.
