The quarterback shared his feelings after the 38-31 win.

“we [Travis Hunter] We knew he was going to get all the attention on the backside, but LaJontay was just going to be one-on-one outside,” Sanders said. Yahoo Sports“In that situation, he’s a short guy, so you wouldn’t think we’d throw the ball to him.

“So I rolled to my left and everybody was heading to the middle of the end zone. I just trusted God. I just threw the ball to God and he certainly answered prayer.”

Sanders completed 25 of 41 passes for 341 yards and two touchdown passes, as well as a running touchdown.

“It's a heartbreaking loss,” Baylor coach Dave Aranda said. “We'd never experienced anything like that until the last play of overtime. It's very hard to accept. Our team is very depressed right now, very frustrated. We'll probably be carrying that pain all the way back to Waco.”
