Dozens of anti-Israel demonstrators entered and occupied the Columbia University building early Tuesday morning. It came hours after the school began suspending students who refused to leave the camp.
Footage posted on social media showed scores of protesters walking around Hamilton Hall, placing wooden chairs and tables in front of the doors, apparently trying to prevent others from entering.
Photos published by Columbia Daily SpectatorThe student newspaper showed a masked protester reaching through a broken window and zip-tying the door shut.
Once inside, the group of thugs threw their belongings on the floor and immediately began barricading themselves inside a building along the south lawn. The building has been the site of the school’s anti-Israel encampment for more than a week.
According to the Columbia Daily Spectator, protesters even covered surveillance cameras inside Hamilton Hall with tape and black garbage bags.
Several workers were still inside when they broke into the building.
The demonstrators removed some of the barricades and forced them outside. One employee yelled “I’m being held hostage” and banged on someone’s camera as he left the building, according to the student newspaper.
“Hey, hey, hey, the occupation has got to stop,” protesters can be heard shouting outside Hamilton Hall during the violent scenes. According to the video Posted in X by Independent News Blog.
