Columbus radio host rips managment over beer ad after Johnny Gaudreau’s death

A Columbus radio station responded to the insensitive ad's run on Friday with a radio host intervening on air.

During Friday's YouTube simulcast of 97.1 The Fan's “Bishop and Friends,” co-host Mark “Chops” Finch was incensed that a bucket of Coors Light was placed in the shot after Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed the night before after being hit by a suspected drunk driver.

“Let's do it right now. Sorry, we have Coors Light on display,” Finch said. “Someone just said that in the YouTube chat. Send an email to higher-ups.”

“I admire the show that is before us. [them] “They took it down. Management wants it back. Send it to them. Not me. I have to sit here next to it and I don't want to sit there today.”

The deaths of the brothers late Thursday night in their hometown in New Jersey shocked the sports world. Johnny Gaudreau was 31 and Matthew Gaudreau was 29.

The pair were riding their bikes when they were struck by 43-year-old Shawn Higgins, who was suspected of being a drink driver.

Higgins was attempting to pass two other vehicles and struck the two brothers from behind.

Higgins was charged with two counts of causing death by motor vehicle and was booked into the Salem County Correctional Facility.

The Gaudreau's were at home attending his sister Katie's wedding, where he was scheduled to serve as groomsman.

Johnny's wife, Meredith Gaudreau, posted a tribute to her late husband on Instagram on Saturday morning.
