Columnist Describes Trump as a 'Toddler' for Supporting the 2028 Olympics

A columnist for USA TODAY referred to President Trump as a “toddler” involved in the planning of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Trump announced an executive order to form a task force for the Olympics’ planning.

“The United States is a champion country. In 2028, we’ll show the world what America is best at, and that’s what we win,” Trump stated. “The Los Angeles Olympics are becoming a great moment for America… It’s the perfect time to embrace being an American sports fan.”

Nancy Armour labeled Trump a “toddler” and a “rough puppy,” referring to his role in organizing the first summer Olympics in the U.S. since Atlanta in 1996.

“Olympic organizers are willing to treat Trump like a toddler to protect the 2028 LA games,” the headline from her article read.

“When you’re dealing with an active toddler or a rough puppy, this is a classic approach—you either distract them with a toy or redirect their focus so they think it’s their idea.”

“By forming a task force and putting Trump ‘in charge,’ LA28 allows him to feel like a critical part of the event, even though his main role should really just be symbolic. This way, the organizers can ensure the athletes arrive without issues,” she added.

Armour also pointed out that having Trump lead the Olympic Task Force isn’t the typical way things are run in a democratic setting.

As reported, the task force’s primary focus will be on coordinating governmental efforts related to transportation, along with simplifying visa processes and credentials for foreign athletes, coaches, officials, and media.
