Trump Launches LA Olympics Task Force
President Donald Trump is leading the charge for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics by signing an executive order on Tuesday to establish the Olympic Task Force. This task force includes notable figures such as Vice President J.D. Vance, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and others.
In a statement, Trump declared, “The United States is a champion country. In 2028, we’ll show the world that America is doing its best. The Los Angeles Olympics are a pivotal moment for our country. It’s a great time to be a sports fan in America.”
However, columnist Nancy Armour offered a different perspective, comparing Trump to a “toddler” in a recent article. She mentioned that Olympic organizers likened him to a “rugged puppy,” indicating they might have to guide him carefully to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Armour noted that this strategy is a classic trick to keep active children or pets engaged by distracting them with toys or making them think it’s their idea.
Interestingly, Armour highlighted that this task force is unique as it’s chaired by the sitting president. “This isn’t your typical arrangement,” she remarked.
Key priorities for the task force will focus on enhancing coordination between federal, state, and local governments regarding transportation. They will also look into streamlining visa processing and eligibility for foreign participants.
While Armour expressed skepticism about Trump’s involvement, noting he was “not necessary” to ensure safety during recent unrest, there is a sense of optimism regarding upcoming events. Trump has also shown enthusiasm for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing his excitement around international sports events.
