Comedian and podcast host Andrew Schultz expressed strong criticism towards Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign for not contacting his team during the recent election.
In a conversation on the New York Times “Interview” podcast, Schultz shared his attempts to engage with various Democrats, such as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, for appearances on his podcast, “Fragrant,” ahead of the 2024 election.
He not only felt snubbed by the Democrats but also accused their team of being “sexist, prejudiced, and racist.”
Schultz mentioned he sought an interview with Harris but claimed her campaign “blatantly lies.” He stated, “They said I didn’t reach out.”
“It’s crazy that not only did I reach out, but they’re lying about it. Our agent, Mark Cuban, contacted them; we made multiple attempts, yet they continue to lie,” he said.
When media outlets report on it, he felt it was misleading, stating, “They say, ‘Andrew claims he reached out to Kamala, but her team said it never happened.’ So, how are readers supposed to interpret that?”
Schultz also expressed that this accusation feels like a personal attack, essentially branding him a liar.
He noted he has spoken with progressive leaders like Buttigieg and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, believing that before the election, Democrats assumed they didn’t need to engage with podcasts like his to connect with voters.
Additionally, Schultz’s “Fragrant” podcast has featured interviews with notable figures, including former President Donald Trump during the campaign.
He remarked that he felt Trump had “won a landslide” following their conversation, expressing skepticism about Trump’s chances for future presidency.
On the Times podcast, Schultz identified as a lifelong Democrat who once voted for Trump, saying, “Voting for him felt like a rejection of a Democratic institution that was sidelining its members from the political process. I was unhappy with the direction things were headed, especially under Kamala.”
