Comedians Hamish Blake and Andy Lee banned for life from Olympic village

Andy Lee has revealed that he and Hamish Blake have been permanently banned from the Olympic Village.

The comedian had been warned “never to talk about it”, but Triple M’s “Rush Hour by Raizel Jones, Liam and DoboOn Tuesday afternoon.”

Andy explained that he was banned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) following an incident at the London 2012 Games.

“Hamish and I had the honour of speaking to the (Australian) Olympians before the Olympics started,” Andy said.

“You have to fill out a lot of forms and security paperwork to get into the Olympic Village… and the person filling out the forms wrote my birthdate as that day (2012).”

Despite what was clearly a clerical error, authorities refused Andy entry to the village on the day of the speech.

Eventually a resourceful Australian came to his rescue.

“I won’t say who, but someone on the team said, ‘Hey, you can bring along a costume. It looks a bit like a high jumper,'” Andy recalled.

“All of a sudden I was using someone else’s (pass) to get in. This was clearly a major security breach at a time when we were trying to prove that we had tight security.”

Hamish and Andy gave speeches and “had a blast” mingling with all the athletes.

But 90 minutes later, the Olympic security team realized they had been tricked.

“They dragged us out, put us in separate rooms and subjected us to brutal interrogation,” Andy told the Triple M presenter.

“We just kept quiet, and then the head of security came in.”

Luckily the head of security was Australian.

“He said, ‘Hamish and Andy, what are you guys doing here?’ We explained and he understood a lot more,” the comedian said.

The Australian Olympic team was penalised for Hamish and Andy’s actions and some of their ‘visitor passes’ were revoked.

“So I’m not really proud of what happened,” Andy said. “I hate the fact that some people missed out.”

The IOC also made it clear to the Australian thugs that they would never be welcomed back in the Olympic Village.

“We had to agree to a permanent ban,” Andy said.

After hearing this hilarious story, Triple M’s Liam Flanagan suggested to Andy: “I think the campaign needs to start here – we need to lift the ban by Brisbane in 2032!”

Andy joked, “Or we could try sneaking in again… let’s double our bet!”
