Comer Says Fauci ‘Won’t Take Responsibility for Anything’

On FBN’s “The Bottom Line” on Monday, Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, responded to testimony earlier in the day from Anthony Fauci, former chief medical adviser to President Biden, before a congressional subcommittee.

Comer said Fauci’s emergence demonstrates the need for term limits at the bureaucratic level, given his unwillingness to accept any responsibility.

“Going forward, how will Congress prevent someone like Robert Redfield at the CDC, who is supposed to be in charge of the pandemic response, from big footing, or, as in this case, little footing,” co-host Duggan McDowell asked. “How do we prevent something like this from happening again?”

“Well, I think today was a perfect example of why we need term limits not just on Congress but on the bureaucracy,” Comer responded. “Dr. Fauci has done more harm to public education and the economy than anybody I can think of in my lifetime who has inflated the deficit. He has not taken any responsibility. And the purpose of today’s hearing was not only to tell the American people the truth that a lot of the harmful policies that he put in place were wrong, but also to try to start some accountability.”

“What Congress needs to do is ensure that never again will one person have so much power in the face of a public health crisis,” he continued. “We don’t need one Dr. Fauci, we need three Dr. Fauci. And they need to cite the science. They need to cite evidence and be transparent with the American people when they make public health recommendations.”
