Trump Comments on Comey’s Social Media Post
In a recent segment of an interview that aired on FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” President Donald Trump addressed a now-removed social media post by former FBI Director James Comey. The post featured a shell arranged on a beach that, according to Trump, alluded to the phrase “86 47.”
Trump claimed that this phrase was a reference to “assassination.” In his discussion with anchor Bret Baier, he mentioned that Attorney General Pam Bondy is looking into potential law enforcement actions concerning Comey’s post.
“He knew what that meant,” Trump asserted. “Even a child understands it. An FBI director should definitely grasp its implications; it’s clearly a message about assassination, and he’s smart enough to recognize that.” He continued with a somewhat ambivalent stance, saying, “I don’t want to take a definitive position; that’s for Pam and others to decide. I find it dreadful. Given Comey’s questionable history, I doubt he has a clean record. If he did, there might be some leniency, but that’s not the case here.”
