The Washington Commanders are adding some muscle to their defensive line. They’ve reportedly signed linebacker Von Miller to a one-year deal. He shared a photo of himself in a Commanders jersey on social media, asking, “DC… what do you like?”
Miller, who is 36, is the active sack leader in the NFL with a total of 129.5 over his career. Last season with the Buffalo Bills, he managed to get six sacks in 13 games while dealing with various challenges.
His time with the Bills included a hefty six-year, $120 million contract, though he played just three seasons. Despite an impressive eight sacks in his first year there, he tore his ACL on Thanksgiving Day in 2022, which impacted his subsequent performance.
The three-time All-Pro had a quieter role last season, not registering any sacks in twelve games played. Still, while not traditionally seen as a dominant pass rusher, Miller hopes to strengthen the Commanders’ pass rush, joining fellow rushers like Dolance Armstrong, Deelic Wise Jr., and Jacob Martin.
This offseason has been notable for the Commanders, especially after winning 12 games last season and reaching the NFC Championship Game against rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. They’ve also made headlines by acquiring standout players like tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans and wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers, marking a clear intention to reinforce both their offensive line and receiving options.
