Commanders win over Bengals features mind-blowing stat

On Monday night, Jayden Daniels proved why the Washington Commanders believe they have found their franchise quarterback of the future.

Heisman Trophy winner Daniels had the best day of his young NFL career in Cincinnati's 38-33 win over the Bengals. The No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft threw two touchdown passes on the night and added another score with his legs.

The former Louisiana State star completed 21 of 23 passes for a 91.3% completion percentage, a league record for a rookie. Washington improved to 2-1 on Monday, while the Bengals surprisingly fell to 0-3.

Aside from Daniels' impressive performance, the Commanders-Bengals game was unusual in that both teams' punting departments showed very little involvement.

Super Bowl champion 'sick of 'em' Joe Burrow's excuses: 'You don't win'

Monday night's game marked the first time in the Super Bowl era that an NFL game ended without either participating team punting or committing a turnover, according to data compiled by the Elias Sports Bureau.

Washington's offense was efficient throughout the game, allowing the Commanders to avoid situations that forced the opposing team to punt.

The Commanders have scored on every possession except for knee downs at the end of each half and have not punted or turned the ball over in their past two games.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow also had a strong game, throwing for a season-best 324 yards and three scores, but the Bengals couldn't keep up, as Cincinnati got off to its worst start since 2019, when it lost its first 11 games and finished the season 2-14.
