Committee Plans to Release Epstein Documents Following DOJ Subpoena

The House Oversight Committee is set to release various documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case later this week. This follows a subpoena issued to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on August 5th.

“The committee expects to receive the requested documents soon after the subpoena for Epstein-related records was issued in August,” noted a report from CBS News.

In an internal review published in July, the Justice Department—which previously convicted Epstein—stated that there is no “client list” associated with him and mentioned that they found no evidence of him posing threats to high-profile individuals.

A spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee indicated that the documents would be made public after a careful review.

“The committee plans to publish the records following a thorough review to ensure that the identities of victims and any child sexual abuse materials are handled appropriately,” the spokesperson explained. “We will also coordinate with the DOJ to avoid any negative impacts on ongoing investigations or cases.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer stated on Monday that the DOJ is cooperating with the subpoena.

“There are numerous records under the DOJ’s control, and it takes time to compile them while ensuring that victim identities and sensitive material are protected,” Comer remarked. “We appreciate the administration’s commitment to transparency and our efforts to provide the public with important information on this topic.”
