House of Streams: A Unique Reality Show

House of Streams, a Netflix series licensed in the UK and Ireland, is set to launch an intriguing competition where online streamers will vie for the chance to win a bitcoin.

The show will feature eight contestants who together boast 4 million followers. Scheduled to premiere on June 18th, it appears they will engage in various challenges to win 1 Bitcoin (BTC).

It’s a bit puzzling why the Malta Film Commission, responsible for the production and filming, decided to emphasize cryptocurrency as a reward. However, creator Mark Holland noted that, “… the final reward would not have been just a simple prize or a trip to the Maldives.” There’s also a warning on the website regarding possible fraudulent memo coins associated with the show’s digital assets.

“We do not support Bitcoin and other Memocoins,” the producers stated in a May 22nd announcement.

Netflix has tackled themes of cryptocurrency and blockchain in previous shows. For instance, No one trusts: The Crypto King’s Hunt explored the fall of the Crypto-exchange Quadrigacx. Recently, it was revealed that the platform will also work on Altruist, focusing on the lives of Sam Bankman-Fried, the former FTX CEO, and Caroline Ellison, former CEO of Alameda Research.

In the Crosshairs of Cryptocurrency

As of June 6th, the eight contestants had not made any public comments about the show, utilizing social media handles like Black Hokage, Cyborgangel, and AutplayedByjade.

Interestingly, one streamer not part of the show, Caitlinsilagusa, reported an alarming incident where a group broke into her home and demanded access to her crypto holdings. She had previously shared screenshots of her Coinbase account from 2024.

This was not an isolated case; there have been multiple attacks in 2025 targeting individuals connected to cryptocurrency exchanges. In France, there was even an instance where criminals tried to lure the daughter and grandson of Pierre Neusatt, the CEO of Paimium, into a ransom scheme involving his granddaughter.
