In a horrific crime that happened over the weekend, a young woman from the Bronx was sexually assaulted by a “total stranger” who broke into her apartment while she was sleeping, police said.
Police say a perverted individual snuck in through the window of Wakefield’s apartment at East 230th Street and White Plains Road around 4:30 a.m. Saturday while the 20-year-old victim was asleep.
Police say the man sexually assaulted the victim and then escaped through the same window he gained entry through.
Surveillance camera footage released late Sunday shows the suspect walking alone along a quiet sidewalk.
