Comstock knocks Trump for profanity-laced remarks at Al Smith dinner: 'Who does that? 

Former Republican Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) condemned former President Trump's blasphemy at the Catholic Charities Al Smith Dinner on Thursday night.

“This is the person doing the awful thing at that dinner,” Comstock said. spoke on CNN On Friday morning's appearance. “Taking an oath in front of priests. Who would do that? It's just a hot, scary mess. We need to turn the page.”

In a speech at a banquet traditionally attended by both presidential candidates, Trump criticized Vice President Harris, his running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), and her husband Doug Emhoff.

Harris did not attend the dinner, choosing instead to campaign in the battleground state of Wisconsin. she talked about the incident instead via video Comedian Molly Shannon was on the show.

While dinner parties have historically featured witty jokes on both sides of the aisle, Trump didn't tell any jokes about himself throughout the evening.

“Tradition dictates that tonight I'm supposed to tell some self-deprecating jokes,” he said. “Then that's it…no. I don't have anything. I don't have anything. I have nothing to say.”

In an interview with CNN, Comstock highlighted a pattern of Trump's criticism of women, citing his attack on former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, calling her a “birdbrain.”

“He attacks women every day and calls them names,” she said. “He has never apologized for that.”

Meanwhile, Comstock praised Harris' campaign methods.

“The vice president has really run a complete campaign and it's been comprehensive,” Comstock said.
