Details Emerge on Former Michigan Coach’s Detention

On Wednesday, information surfaced regarding the detention of Sherone Moore, the former football coach at the University of Michigan. Allegations of stalking and a potential mental health crisis have been highlighted.

A 911 call, recently obtained, indicated a disturbing situation. The caller, described as a victim in a supposed “domestic” incident, reported that there was a man involved who was “stalking her for months.” The call also mentioned that this man had “held a knife to his throat and fled.” It’s hard to imagine the fear involved in that, really.

Interestingly, there was additional information relayed through dispatch, with the suspect’s wife stating he was attempting to harm himself after losing his job earlier that day. It seems that, while Moore’s name didn’t come up in the audio, the call originated from an address linked to Michigan football—a detail that can’t be ignored.

Moore, now 39, is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail, though specific bail amounts haven’t been shared. According to local police, they responded to the scene as part of an assault investigation and confirmed that one person is in custody while the charges are being reviewed.

This incident follows Moore’s recent firing, which came after an inquiry revealed he had engaged in an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. Michigan’s athletic director made clear that substantial evidence supported these claims, which have understandably stirred up controversy. The university’s interim president also addressed the situation in an email, calling Moore’s actions a “betrayal of trust” and urging students with information to speak up.

The quick fallout from these revelations has been striking, and the university’s response has raised questions. Moore is set for arraignment on Friday, which many will be watching closely.
