Concerns about a serial killer persist after bones were discovered close to Taylor Swift’s beach house.

On Wednesday, human remains were discovered in an affluent beach area of Rhode Island, raising fears about a potential serial killer in New England. The skeletal remains, a human leg bone, were found along a path on Everett Avenue in Watchhill, a wealthy coastal community in Westerly, not far from a beachside apartment complex where pop star Taylor Swift resides.

Authorities have since moved the remains to a medical examination facility in Rhode Island for further analysis. Interestingly, reports indicate there are currently no signs of foul play, though the Western Police Department declined to comment, and Rhode Island State Police have not responded to inquiries.

This incident is part of a worrying trend, as it marks the 13th body or set of remains uncovered across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts since March. Of these, five were found in Massachusetts, five in Connecticut, and three in Rhode Island. Previously, two bodies were discovered in Taunton, Massachusetts.

A former FBI agent suggested that insufficient information is being released to help dispel the rumors circulating about a serial killer being active in the region. He pointed out that while there’s no solid evidence to substantiate those claims, the lack of clarity allows speculation to thrive. “It’s not definitive,” he said, “but a connection among these cases remains uncertain.”

In a separate incident, Donald Coffle, 68, was arrested in connection with the murder of a victim named Suzanne Wormser in Groton, Connecticut. Wormser was tragically found dismembered and placed in a suitcase earlier this year. On Friday, Coffle passed away at the Corrigan Correctional Center after battling cancer, and at the time of his arrest, he had expressed significant pain.
