Concerns About Job Losses Due to AI Being Leveraged to Advocate for Wealth Redistribution

Concerns About AI Job Impact and Universal Basic Income

Wynton Hall, who serves as the social media director for Breitbart News, recently discussed the implications of artificial intelligence with Steve Bannon on his show. Hall highlighted how influential figures are using the fear surrounding job losses due to AI to advocate for policies like universal basic income and wealth redistribution.

During the conversation, Hall referenced Elon Musk’s assertion that AI could be “a supersonic tsunami for humanity.” He also quoted Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, who suggested that within a year, AI might “replace 50 percent of entry-level, white-collar jobs currently at risk, which includes many college graduates.”

Hall continued by mentioning Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleiman’s remark about the potential to replace all white-collar jobs in just 18 months. Whether or not one believes these predictions, he pointed out that numerous companies are leveraging concerns about job displacement to promote universal basic income and other wealth distribution policies.

“Regardless of the legitimacy of these claims, deep-pocketed interests are using fear to garner support for initiatives like universal basic income and reshaping the global economy,” he explained. Hall noted that Bill Gates has been cultivating a narrative around transitioning to a three- or four-day work week.

Hall also mentioned influences from figures like Bernie Sanders, who have promoted concepts like a 37-hour work week, which is more typical in European contexts.

Hall’s book, titled Code Red, explores AI’s impact across various sectors, including economics and politics, while also addressing challenges that lie ahead and proposing solutions for conservatives.

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) recently recognized Hall as one of the 100 most influential people in the AI domain. She remarked that Hall possesses a unique understanding of the conservative struggle against Big Tech, making him particularly suited to navigate AI’s vast potential responsibly. Additionally, investigative journalist Michael Shellenberger described Hall’s book as both “edifying” and “alarming,” asserting it sparks critical discussions about countering Big Tech’s authoritarian trends.
