Concerns About Las Vegas Showed in Recent Podcast Discussion
Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham and her podcast co-host West Wilson recently chatted about Las Vegas, raising concerns that the city might not be as appealing as it once was. The discussion was sparked by comments about WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, another Las Vegas resident.
Cunningham asked Wilson if he liked Las Vegas, and he candidly admitted he did not. He shared that he had spent a year living there while working with Bleacher Report, and his experiences seemed to color his opinion of the city.
“I don’t like Vegas,” Cunningham stated plainly. “When people rave about it, I honestly just roll my eyes.” She even challenged her co-host to show her something that could change her mind.
Wilson reflected on his early mornings working at Caesars Palace, noting the monotony of leaving for work at 10 PM and returning the next day to the same environment. “It feels kind of sad, honestly,” he explained.
Cunningham, having played in Las Vegas multiple times during her career, mentioned the overwhelming smell that she associated with the city. “It’s just…different, not in a good way,” she remarked, indicating how the experience lingered long after leaving.
Interestingly, Cunningham mentioned that some people she spoke with preferred the suburbs to the busy strip. “Everyone says living outside the strip is where it’s at, but I just don’t know—maybe I’m missing something,” she pondered.
Currently, there are whispers that Las Vegas is losing its vibrancy, attributed to various factors such as economic challenges and a lack of excitement. There’s talk that the city feels “dead” these days.
Despite these worries, CEO Derek Stevens expressed a more optimistic outlook. He told Fox News Digital recently that he believes Las Vegas will turn a corner in the next six months.
“I think in six months, Vegas tourism and our entire economy will be in a much better place,” he asserted, embodying a sense of hope for the city’s future.
