‘Concluded on a positive note’: Moyes praises Everton’s advancement after Goodison Park goodbye

Everton Ends Era at Goodison Park

David Moyes has expressed confidence that Everton will “return with him” following their last match at Goodison Park. Iliman Ndiaye played a key role in securing a victory against Southampton. This match marks the transition for the Toffees as they prepare for a new chapter at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“I’m pleased with the outcome. I wanted us to finish strong,” Moyes remarked. “We did well enough.”

He also noted a sense of connection among supporters, players, and management, suggesting that there’s a budding romance developing between them before they move into the next phase.

Since returning to Everton in January, Moyes has managed to stabilize the team, pulling them out of the relegation zone and into a safer mid-table position. “People have been talking about this for quite a while,” he added.

Reflecting on the atmosphere outside the stadium, Moyes remarked, “It was incredible. You could feel that this club really needed some significant moments.”

Meanwhile, Southampton has finished at the bottom of the league, managing just 12 points this season. They are currently without a permanent head coach, but discussions with Tom Cleverley are ongoing as they seek to fill the vacancy.

Interim manager Simon Rusk commented, “Right now, my focus is on supporting the players. Over these seven games, especially in tough circumstances, that’s what I wanted to do.”

“Overall, we’ve managed to earn points, especially from our last match against Manchester City, which was crucial.”
