Condoleezza Rice reports that US strikes have 'greatly affected' Iran's nuclear facilities

U.S.-Israel Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Facilities Signifies Shift in Middle East

According to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities mark a significant turning point for the Middle East, enhancing America’s credibility on the global stage.

The strikes, which targeted three Iranian sites, were highlighted in a U.S. briefing after the military operations took place over the weekend. Rice remarked, “We can’t know precisely the extent of the damage yet, but the evidence suggests that key areas, where constructing nuclear weapons would be challenging—at least for the foreseeable future—were hit hard.”

Israel’s assessment suggests Iran’s nuclear program has been set back significantly.

Early Sunday morning, as part of Operation Midnight Hammer, U.S. B-2 bombers and Tomahawk missiles struck locations including Isfahan’s nuclear site, indicating a calculated military operation.

The B-2 bomber executed a non-stop flight from Missouri, deploying significant payloads, specifically targeting Natanz with two GBU-57 bombs. Additionally, over twenty cruise missiles were launched from U.S. submarines.

Despite ongoing speculation about the location of Iran’s enriched uranium, the Trump administration has advocated for the complete disruption of Iran’s nuclear ambitions in the wake of these attacks.

Trump Administration Claims Success in Military Operations Against Iran

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that President Trump orchestrated one of the most intricate and secret military endeavors, bringing about the end of a protracted conflict characterized by a ceasefire agreement.

“There was considerable discussion about the operations and their outcomes, but we decisively moved to halt the war and significantly degrade Iran’s nuclear capabilities,” Hegseth added during a briefing at the Pentagon.

Rice suggested that the U.S. military actions have indeed delayed a substantial portion of Iran’s nuclear program. However, she criticized the Defense Intelligence Agency’s preliminary reports that claimed minimal damage to critical Iranian facilities, calling such evaluations “irresponsible.”

“When you consider the impacts on various regional actors, including Hezbollah and Hamas, there’s considerable risk,” she noted. “A weakened Iran benefits regional stability.” The Trump administration expressed intentions to engage in diplomatic discussions with Iran after Operation Midnight Hammer, though Rice maintained skepticism about the Iranian regime’s commitment to peace.

She reflected on the long history of Iranian actions in the region, including destabilization efforts and attacks against American interests, asserting that the regime has not demonstrated a sincere desire for peace.

Moreover, Rice remarked that the recent strike was a critical moment in enhancing American credibility internationally, particularly following President Biden’s controversial withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“Building reliability takes time; it isn’t merely about making promises. The recent actions contribute positively to the U.S.’s standing,” she concluded.
