A left-wing activist seemed to be involved in a confrontation with immigration and customs enforcement officials outside an ICE detention center in Broadview, Illinois, on Friday morning. This took place just days after a deadly shooting at a Texas ICE facility.
During the protest, some demonstrators shouted, “Arrest the ICE!” while others were heard urging, “Shoot the ICE!” It was unsettling to witness the escalation of such rhetoric after the tragic event in Dallas.
There’s a video from Blaze News showing a man, who was seemingly calling for violence against ICE agents in the wake of that shooting. When questioned about his presence at the facility, he stated, “I’m here to protest the ICE. I’m here to bring this nonsense back to their faces.”
When asked how he would assess the success of the protest, he stumbled a bit, saying, “Um, no, um, I don’t really know how you measure that. We’re always here… There’s a lot of media here. And it may look small, but it’s big in the media.” He claimed to be a U.S. Navy veteran, stating he’s served eight years, yet denied calling for violence, even though footage seemed to suggest otherwise.
The man could be seen in the video, which captured the intensity of the situation. Rosas pressed him about the implications of calling for violence, especially given the current atmosphere towards law enforcement. The man replied, “Hey, that’s dangerous without it. What are you going to do? You don’t fight back? Apparently, the words mean something.”
As this discussion unfolded, the man mentioned his plans for future protests, joking, “Next time I’ll bring a little buggy of flour, pretending to be tear gas.” In response to further questions about his stance, he reiterated, “I don’t support shooting ICE. I support messing with them,” chuckling slightly.
