The Congressional Black Caucus PAC has vowed to expose the “dangerous agenda” of “extreme Republicans” after Republicans' success at the polls this year.
On Monday, the PAC announced plans to fight back against any legislation along the lines of Project 2025.
“CBC will hold the line to protect the American people from the dangers of extremist Republicans and their hateful Project 2025 plan,” the PAC said in a memo Monday.
“On the streets, in the courts, and in Congress, CBC will fight for a fair economy and build coalitions with Americans of good will to protect our freedoms. Republicans in the House and Senate should be vigilant. We will soon expose and define their dangerous and reckless plans, and the American people will see the stakes clearly next November.”
PAC added that the caucus has a mission to fight for economic and social justice.
The group's stance on Project 2025 is not surprising. All members of the CBC are Democrats. Both the caucus and its PAC have pushed back against the conservative blueprint, often emphasizing its impact on black Americans.
But the PAC, which has the largest CBC class in history, is hopeful the caucus can successfully push back on the Republican agenda.
The CBC's 119th Congress will have 62 members, the highest number since its inception 53 years ago.
All of the caucus' front-runners were reelected this year, including the chair, Rep. Stephen Horsford (D-Nev.). Meanwhile, several candidates made history, including Congresswoman-elect Janelle Bynum, who will become the first Black woman to represent Oregon.
PAC is hoping for success in the Senate with the selection of Sens.-elect Angela Alsobrooks and Lisa Blunt Rochester.
But the PAC will also rely on five CBC members who will be ranked members of the committee. Virginia Congressman Bobby Scott talks about education. Congressman David Scott (Georgia) on agriculture. Congressman Bennie Thompson (Michigan) on Homeland Security. Congresswoman Maxine Waters (California) talks about financial services.
“While Republicans control Washington, House Republicans will again have a slim majority,” the PAC said.
“With Hakeem Jeffries' leadership, the CBC and House Democrats are seeking common ground, exposing the dangerous agenda of the extreme Republican Party, and ensuring that the dignity of work is respected, opportunities for wealth are created, and American freedoms are protected. We will fight to rebuild America's social compact, which means “protected.'' ”
