Congressman Demands Investigation Into Bad Bunny’s ‘Improper’ Super Bowl Performance: ‘Total Filth’

Andy Ogles, a Tennessee representative, was taken aback by Super Bowl I’s halftime show. After Monday’s performance by Bad Bunny, he labeled it “vulgar” and suggested it deserved scrutiny, calling it a moral decline.

As noted for the first time in TIME magazine, Ogles expressed his worries on social media, penning a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee. In this letter, he urged the NFL and NBCUniversal to initiate a formal congressional inquiry regarding their “prior knowledge, consideration, and approval” of what he described as a “show dominated by sexually explicit lyrics and suggestive movements.”

Ogles criticized the halftime show as “pure nonsense,” pointing to various explicit acts, including “homosexual displays, provocative dancing from women, and Bad Bunny’s inappropriate gestures.” He contended that the singer’s predominantly Spanish lyrics glorified unspeakable acts.

As referenced by TIME, Ogles, previously recognized for his conservative stance, claimed songs from Bad Bunny’s performance, like “Safaela” and “Yo Pereo Sola,” contained sexual references that were evident regardless of language.

Ogles also insisted that it’s hard to believe the NFL and NBC were unaware of the contents before airing, suggesting they should be held accountable for their collusion.

He is pushing for an investigation into the nature of the performance, the knowledge of executives regarding its review and translation, and whether the proper measures, like broadcast delays and standards reviews, were followed or intentionally overlooked.

As noted by Breitbart News, many others shared Ogles’ disdain for Bad Bunny and turned to different halftime entertainment.

The day after, TPUSA launched an All-America Halftime Show as an alternative, leading Kid Rock to hit number one on iTunes with his song “Till You Can’t,” displacing Bad Bunny, possibly due to the controversy surrounding the Puerto Rican artist’s halftime performance.

Rock performed on Turning Point USA’s “All America Halftime Show” on Sunday night.

Another act from the TPUSA show also saw success on the iTunes charts; Gabby Barrett’s “The Good Ones” climbed to No. 4, pushing a Bad Bunny song, “Titty Me Pregnant,” down to No. 5.
