A house fire in Connecticut on Thanksgiving was likely caused by someone frying a turkey inside the home's garage, the fire department said.
Photos and videos of the fire showed the house fully ablaze as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
The Weston Volunteer Fire Department said in a statement that firefighters attempted to aggressively extinguish the fire as the garage fire began to rapidly spread to the residence, but were thwarted by dangerous fire conditions and a collapsed structure.
A car also crashed onto the hose firefighters were using to extinguish the fire, stopping the flow of water for several minutes.
The fire was finally extinguished after 16 hours and the house was deemed uninhabitable.
There were no injuries and the official cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The nearly $3 million home is 10,000 square feet and about 25 people were home for Thanksgiving when the fire started around 3:40 p.m., CT Insider reported.
The Weston Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by several other fire departments, including the Westport Fire Department, Wilton Fire Department, Redding Fire Department, West Reading Fire Department, Georgetown Fire Department, Weston Fire Department, and Ridgefield Fire Department.
