Connor Smith Cited in Fatal Crash Involving 77-Year-Old Woman
Country singer Connor Smith has been cited by authorities following a tragic accident in June that resulted in the death of a 77-year-old woman while she was on a marked crosswalk.
Smith, who was driving a Chevrolet Silverado, avoided any felony charges in connection with the incident. He received a misdemeanor citation for failing to have consequences leading to the death of Dorothy Dobbins.
His attorney, Warwick G. Robinson IV, expressed gratitude to the Nashville police for their thorough investigation into this unfortunate event, stating that Connor is continuously seeking ways to support the family affected.
“Connor’s thoughts are with Dobbins’ family, and he wishes to honor her memory by advocating for pedestrian safety to prevent future tragedies,” Robinson added.
A source close to Smith noted that he appreciated how the Nashville community rallied around Dobbins’ family after the accident. In a response to the incident, city officials installed new signage to enhance crosswalk visibility, even removing nearby trees that obstructed the view.
Smith is hopeful that these safety measures will help avert similar accidents in the future. According to reports, he maintains that he was not distracted by his phone during the crash, and police found no indications of impairment at the scene.
