Influencer Connor Murphy Dies in Thailand
Conor Murphy, an influencer recognized for his “Look Max” content, tragically passed away in Thailand on July 7 due to an apparent drowning. He was only 32 years old.
His friends confirmed the sad news through a social media post on July 8.
Authorities in Samut Prakan province were called to a luxury rental property after reports of a man behaving oddly. Witnesses mentioned that Murphy swam for a few minutes before becoming exhausted but didn’t seem to realize the lake’s depth was over 10 meters (around 33 feet).
I find it quite shocking; it’s such a tragic situation. It seems like something out of a movie or a nightmare.
Divers from the Poh Teck Tun Foundation searched for about half an hour before discovering Murphy approximately 20 meters from the shore.
The local police indicated there were no visible signs of violence based on an initial examination, and Murphy’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
According to Khaosod English, a full autopsy and toxicology results are awaited. Murphy and his girlfriend, a 22-year-old known as Bee, were staying at the property on a three-month lease.
Interestingly, the rental home, which the owner valued at around 22 million baht (about $600,000), was leased for about 35,000 baht (just over $1,000) monthly.
There were reports of unusual behavior observed before Murphy entered the lake, with authorities mentioning black and yellow paint splattered around the property, a detail that raises more questions than it answers.
Bee told police that the incident likely occurred at night while she was in a separate room. She mentioned that Murphy had never used drugs in her presence, and that day, his behavior seemed off, which is unsettling when you think about it.
Murphy, originally from Texas, had gathered over 2.7 million followers on platforms like YouTube and Instagram, sharing his journey in bodybuilding and fitness. He was part of the looksmaxxing community, which sometimes involved extreme methods of enhancing fitness and appearance.
The last posts on his social media were made on July 3, where he shared a video of himself playing soccer indoors. It’s eerie, really, how quickly things changed.
The investigation into his death is still ongoing.
