Conor McGregor continues to say he will return.
A broken toe has once again postponed McGregor’s long-awaited return to the Octagon against Michael Chandler at UFC 303, but he was in attendance at Saturday’s Bellator Champions Series event to speak about the injury.
Speaking at an event in Dublin, Ireland, McGregor said he still has pain in his injured toe, despite undergoing stem cell treatment.
“We just adapt.” McGregor said“Everything’s in motion. Everything’s in moving parts so it’s OK. The injury is nasty. It hurts. I’m not gonna lie. It hurts, very, very much. It probably hurts more than my foot. That’s the truth. I’ll tell you why. At least my foot was bandaged up. I couldn’t reach it. My foot is still there. It’s like it’s exposed. It hurts a little bit, but that’s to be expected. I just need to adjust and get training camp right.”
McGregor has stated that a fight with Michael Chandler could still happen later this year, consistent with a previous report from Ariel Helwani.
This would also suggest that the injury is not that serious.
“August-September … August-September, I’d love to do that,” McGregor said. “You know the situation. I’m in recovery mode right now.”

McGregor and Chandler remain on a collision course and, despite numerous setbacks, are likely to meet next.
McGregor last stepped into the Octagon on July 10, 2021 at UFC 264, when he faced Dustin Poirier in a bout that was stopped in the first round due to a broken leg.
The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is 1-3 in his last four UFC fights, with just one win since November 2016.
