Conservative group debuts major ad buy in key senators’ states as ‘soft appeal’ for Hegseth, Gabbard, Patel

The head of a conservative grassroots group is launching a six-figure ad campaign to help expedite the confirmation of President-elect Trump's Cabinet nominees.

The $150,000 static digital ad campaign targeted nine states and made “soft appeals” to voters, encouraging voters to contact their senators and express how Trump “has a mandate from the American people.” Heritage Action for America Vice President Ryan Walker he said Thursday.

Walker said the $150,000 is the first portion of $1 million the organization is allocating throughout Inauguration Day to encourage Americans to ask their senators to support candidates.

The first ad in the campaign supports Secretary of Defense candidate Pete Hegseth, and the first full ad will be available for purchase until December 31st.

Walker said the initial purchases will focus on Alaska, Maine, Louisiana, Iowa, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, Utah, South Dakota and Washington, D.C.

While many similar ad campaigns may try to appeal to voters in “battleground states” or specific regions of the country, Walker said the states included here have unique connections.

Some of the states targeted by the first ad buys are home to senators who have not committed to supporting or opposing candidates like Hegseth, Gabbard and Patel.

Alaska and Maine are represented by two prominent moderate Republicans, Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Sen. Susan Collins, respectively.

Both women voted in favor of impeaching Trump, but also supported some of the president-elect's policies as well.

“Unifying the Republican conference around them is what we are trying to accomplish here.”

Walker said Heritage Action focuses on public comments by senators in targeted states, and also on which candidates appear in the news or spend time at the Capitol on a given day. He said he was very sympathetic.

Walker suggested the movement started with the former Fox News host, as Hegseth made the rounds last week and this week seeking support for his confirmation.

Next week, Health and Human Services Secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is scheduled to visit Washington for the same purpose, and he is prepared to pivot his advertising campaign to focus on the Democratic heir if necessary.
