Conservative Journalist’s Attackers Are Suing Their Daughter in an Unusual Act of Revenge

A family in Minnesota, already facing federal charges for assaulting journalist Savanah Hernandez, has now turned their legal attention to their estranged daughter. Chris Ostroushko, his wife Deyanna, and daughter Paige gained notoriety for allegedly attacking Hernandez at an anti-ICE demonstration near the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building in Fort Snelling. Footage shows Chris pushing Hernandez to the ground, while DeYanna and Paige shouted slurs and physically engaged with her as she attempted to leave the situation. Hernandez suffered several injuries, including a concussion and emotional trauma, while all three family members now face charges related to the incident, with Chris and Paige additionally charged for interfering with a journalist on federal property.

Hernandez has filed her own civil lawsuit against the Ostroushkos, seeking over $75,000 for battery and assault.

Shortly after the incident gained traction, Desiree Ostroushko, the sisters’ older sister, publicly denounced her family’s behavior. She stated, “I do not align with my family’s actions at all… Violence is never acceptable to me, regardless of circumstances or beliefs.” Desiree has been estranged from her family for about two years because she disagrees with their far-left views.

In response, Chris and Deyanna filed a small-claims lawsuit against Desiree for $1,076.41, claiming financial assistance given to her during a difficult time was a loan, not a gift. This lawsuit appeared just days after Desiree condemned their actions. Despite two years of estrangement, she insists that the funds were intended as a gift, and no collection efforts were made until she spoke out against the family’s behavior.

While maneuvering through criminal charges and raising funds for their defense, the Ostroushkos have pulled their daughter into a legal battle. The growing political divide has led to people severing ties with family members who hold different beliefs— a phenomenon more prevalent on the left, as indicated by a survey from UC Irvine/YouGov, revealing that 37% of Americans have experienced a “political breakup.” Among these, a significant majority of breakups were initiated by Democrats.

Desiree has initiated a fundraiser to counter her parents’ lawsuit, expressing her commitment to kindness and independence despite the turmoil. She noted that the situation has taken a toll not just legally but also emotionally. “…It is the heartbreak of being hurt and misunderstood by the people you never expected it from,” she commented. The fundraiser has already surpassed its initial goal.
