Republican Mara Macy, who is challenging establishment Rep. John Rutherford (R-Florida) in Florida’s conservative 5th Congressional District primary, told SiriusXM. Breitbart News Saturday Her “salesman” opponents consistently vote against what voters want and face a “huge backlash” back home, she said.
Macy joined Breitbart News Washington bureau chief Matthew Boyle on his show, where Boyle opened the segment by saying Rutherford “has the perfect record in the wrong way” to vote in Congress. did.
“So I think he’s just voting no on all the things that we as conservatives believe he should vote for or vote against.” replied Macy. “In other words, FISA [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act], we have all the money overseas – he has voted in favor of every Ukraine bill going back to 2022 when I first ran against him, and it’s just one thing after another. It was happening to. ”

listen:
Rutherford first came to Macy’s attention when her husband was fighting with the Pentagon over military vaccination requirements. Macy said Rutherford’s office completely ignored the concerns of two families who contacted Rutherford about the “illegality” of the mission, and told two other families, “We apologize for the inconvenience. There’s nothing we can do,” he said.
On Saturday, Boyle asked Macy how Rutherford would answer voters “on behalf of the Exchange” in Washington, D.C., about his record when he returns to Florida’s 5th Congressional District.
Macy said Rutherford has been careful to attend events and clubs where he feels supported and safe from criticism, but stressed that even at these events he is starting to hear from disgruntled voters.
“Well, I think it’s important to note that he actually chooses which clubs to go to, which Republican events to go to. Usually he feels like he’s going to get the most support. “I’m going to go there,” she explained. “But recently he has received a lot of backlash at those clubs as well.”
“What he’s doing is coming home and selling the reasons why he voted against what voters asked him to do or not do. And what I’m saying now is that he He’s not a representative. He’s a salesman,” Macy charged.
Macy said “the tide is turning” and that her record is being challenged. She strategically attends these events to avoid criticism.
“At a Republican club recently, when he started taking questions, no one had anything to say, and then finally somebody raised their hand and said, ‘You know, I have a question,’ and these I asked him about one of the votes. Next thing you know, the floodgates were open. People just started saying, “Yeah, why are you doing this?” or “Why don’t you do that?” And they started attacking him for what we were all seeing. ”
Macy stressed that voters need to be courageous. “Courage is contagious, and if you’re willing to speak up, everyone else will say, ‘Okay, well, I’m not the only one who’s unhappy about this.'”
Boyle also emphasized that the August primary election will likely decide the district’s next U.S. representative, making it essentially a general election. He asked Macy for his opinion on this race, which he believes is conservatives’ biggest opportunity to “take it back from the swamp.” She agreed “wholeheartedly.”
“Elections are won in the primaries. That’s where we win,” she said. “If you don’t go to vote in the primary and just go to the general vote, that means you’re only looking for the letter. And at this point we all know that the ‘R’ is actually Republican.” We need to be cognizant of the fact that it doesn’t mean conservative, and it doesn’t mean conservative. That sounds very good and probably means RINO. ”
“So now, if we want to take this country back, we need to make sure we get all our friends, all our family, all our neighbors to vote in the primaries. The best way for people to get involved is to talk to everyone they know and It’s about getting the word out,” she added. “Listen, when I go to the general election, I’m going to be running against a Democrat. I don’t even care about that. I’m worried about the Democrats I’m going to run against in the primaries. That’s something I have to defeat. It’s someone you can’t meet.”
